GORHAM — Conductor Robert Lehmann will step off the podium to perform violin for a recital featuring sonatas by Sergei Prokofiev and Johannes Brahms on Friday, March 16, at the University of Southern Maine.
Lehmann, a member of USM’s School of Music faculty, will be joined by Boston-based pianist Sayuri Miyamoto.
They will perform Prokofiev’s virtuosic and sunny Sonata in D Major, Op. 94a; and Brahms’ bittersweet D minor sonata, a work inseparably linked to his friend and “muse” Clara Schumann and violinist Joseph Joachim.
The 8 p.m. concert in Corthell Concert Hall is part of USM’s School of Music Spotlight Concert Series. Tickets are $15/$10 for seniors; $5 for students/children. For reservations, call 780-5555 or visit www.usm.maine.edu/music/boxoffice. In case of stormy weather, call 780-4800 for concert information.
