Valente wins WMC’s Butler Award

The Western Maine Conference Monday night presented Gray-New Gloucester senior Taylor Valente with the Robert E. Butler Sr. Award at its annual basketball awards banquet.

Since 1984, the WMC has given the award each year to the player who demonstrated overall good citizenship, sportsmanship, leadership, dedication to team play and quality basketball performance during the basketball season. Valente, who beat out fellow finalists Stefano Mancini of Falmouth and Matt Langadas of Lake Region, is the first Gray-New Gloucester player to ever win the award.

A senior center, Valente was also named first team all-WMC.
