LEWISTON — Valerie Louise Farnum, 97, of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully Jan. 6 at Montello Manor, with some family members by her side.
She was born May 18, 1913, in Livermore Falls, the only child of Earnest George Pike and Alice Eva Davis. She went to Lisbon Falls High School and graduated in 1930. She also attended Bliss College.
She belonged to the Mayflower Society and was the 12th descendant of William Brewster. She married Dana Gordon Farnum Sr., on Sept. 4, 1932, and they made their home in Lisbon Falls.
Valerie enjoyed listening to country music, reading, doing puzzles and watching the birds feed at her feeders. She especially enjoyed having her family around. She was a homemaker all her life, raising her children.
She is survived by her four sons, Dana G. Farnum Jr., of Lisbon Falls, Robert D. Farnum, of Lewiston, Richard B. Farnum and wife, Jane, of Lisbon Falls and Alan W. Farnum and wife, Sylvia, of Plymouth, Wis.; one daughter, Gail P. Griggs, and husband, Randall Griggs, of Topsham; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. They will all miss her very very much.
She was predeceased by a son, Gary P. Farnum; and a grandson, Steven R. Cobb.
Interment was held Sunday morning at Hillside Cemetery.
