WEST POLAND — Vernon Olin Goss, 61, died unexpectedly of heart related problems on Wednesday, May 12, at his residence in West Poland.
He was born April 3, 1949, in Lewiston, the son of Ara and Mildred (Libby) Goss. He attended grade school in Poland and graduated from Mechanic Falls High School, Class of 1967.
He attended the University of Maine at Farmington, where he received a teaching degree. He taught school in Berlin, N.H., for 11 years and substitute taught in the Gray-New Gloucester schools for several years.
For many years, he has farmed full time on the family homestead raising fruits and mixed vegetables. He regularly attended Pleasant Street Baptist Church in Mechanic Falls and his church family was very important to him. He loved family, farming, watching sports, and watching the birds.
Survivors include brothers, Thomas Goss and wife, Judy, of West Poland and Walter Goss and wife, Sharon, of Mechanic Falls; as well as nieces and nephews, John Goss and wife, Cherryl, and children, Joel, Micah, Isaac and Anna of Avon, Mass., Rebecca Jameson and husband, Scott, of Colorado, Susan Goss of Poland, Emily Quimi and husband, Alex, Stephen Goss, Michael Goss and Sarah Goss, all of Mechanic Falls.
He was predeceased by his parents.
