VFW post to lead POW-MIA ceremony

JAY – The Frank L. Mitchell Post 3335, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Auxiliary will hold a ceremony at the POW-MIA Remembrance Bridge Monument of All Wars, located at the corner of the Riley Road and Route 4, at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23.

The program will consist of two segments. The first will be the changing of the flags in honor of Robert Nine, a U.S. Army veteran. The second part will be to observe Former POW National Recognition Day, which is officially on April 9 each year.

Due to other commitments, POW-MIA Chairman John Dube and his committee have chosen April 23 for the local observance. The public is encouraged to attend the ceremonial program.

Anyone willing to donate a casket-size American flag to be flown from the yardarm at the POW-MIA Monument is asked to contact Dube at 897-5335.
