Victim of boating accident named

SALISBURY, Conn. (AP) – The man who died over the weekend when his boat overturned on Twin Lakes was identified Monday as 52-year-old Zdzislaw Skorski of New Britain.

He was fishing with his 54-year-old brother, Antoni Skorski, and 22-year-old nephew, Christopher Skorski, when their boat capsized at about 10:15 a.m., the state Department of Environmental Protection said.

A resident along the lake heard the men shouting and called 911. The Salisbury fire department responded with a rescue boat and found all three men clinging to their overturned 12-foot fiberglass boat.

The victims were pulled them from the water and taken by ambulance to Sharon Hospital, where Zdzislaw Skorski was pronounced dead.

His brother and nephew were treated for shock, hypothermia and other injuries.

The three men had been fishing for about three hours when the accident occurred, DEP officers said.

The boat was about 30 feet from shore near Between the Lakes Road when it capsized.
