Violet May Martin Wetherell


LEWISTON – Violet May Martin Wetherell, 88, of Buckfield, died May 22.

She was born in Taunton, Mass., on May 26, 1917, the daughter of Clarence and Myra (Wilbur) Casey. She worked as a nurse’s aid in Brockton, Mass., for several years before moving to Maine 31 years ago, and had been a homemaker most of her life.

She had great love for her family, animals, gardening and bingo. She enjoyed reciting poems taught to her by her grandmother. She achieved many things in spite of her handicap, and always found the good in everyone. She was loved by many and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her children, Charles Wetherell and his wife, Deanna, of Lewiston, Kenneth Wetherell and his wife, Brenda, of Buckfield, Marjorie Churchill of Turner, Joyce Brooks of Taunton, Mass. and James Wetherell and his wife, Debbie, of Buckfield; siblings, Louise Trainer of Montana, Herman Brown and Emery Brown of Florida and Walter Thomas of Massachusetts; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two husbands, Charles Elmes Wetherell and Frank Martin; and two great-grandchildren.
