NORWAY — Virginia “Bunny” Forrest passed away peacefully Sept. 12, at the Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center in Norway. She was 95 years old.
She was born in the Bronx, New York City, N.Y., on Nov. 20, 1921. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, N.Y., and completed the course at the Hollywood Modeling School in New York City. She was a showroom model for Vanity Fair Silk Mills Inc., also in New York City.
She married Richard Forrest on Nov. 8, 1942, and lived in Mount Vernon, N.Y., where she was active in the Community Church At The Circle and sang in the choir. In 1966 they moved to New Jersey and then retired to North Carolina in 1977 where Bunny worked for the Carteret County Tourism Bureau. She founded the Southern Belles Barbershop Chorus in 1998. She was proud of the four gold medals the chorus won in the North Carolina Senior Games. She came to Maine in 2003, becoming a volunteer at Stephens Memorial Hospital, the Fair museum and for McLaughlin Gardens. She sang in the choir and was a member of the First Congregational Church of South Paris.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard; and her grandson, Timothy Durbin.
She is survived by her son, Steven Forrest of Borrego Springs, Calif.; her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Jeff Ward of Norway; as well as her granddaughter, Katherine M. Leigh of Virginia Beach, Va.
