Virginia D. Davis


NORWAY – Virginia D. Davis, 83, of Norway, peacefully passed away Friday, April 28, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 23, 1923, in Lewiston, the daughter of George W. and Martha Marsh Dill of Auburn. She attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1942.

During World War II, she worked at Hamilton Standard Propeller in East Hartford, Conn.

She married Clyde W. Davis on Nov. 4, 1945, at the Elm Street Universalist Church in Auburn. They moved to Norway in 1948.

Virginia was a member of the Norway Second Congregational Church, where she was active in the Women’s Fellowship.

She was a member of the Oxford Hill’s Ridgerunners Snowmobile Club, Norway Country Club and the Oxford Hills YMCA. She was also a corporator of Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.

Virginia is survived by Clyde, her loving husband of 60 years; two sons, Richard (Rick) and his wife, Beth, and Philip and his partner, Paul Gordon; a daughter, Cynthia Woodworth and her husband, Merle; five grandchildren, Christopher Davis and his wife, Laura, Diana Blanchard and her husband, Michael, Michael Davis, Megan Davis, and Bret Woodworth; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Emma and Julianna Davis, and William and Elizabeth Blanchard.

She was predeceased by a sister Ruth Meade.

“Ginny” cherished all family gatherings. Nothing was more important to her than her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
