Virginia S. (Blake) Brown


West Paris – Virginia S. Brown, 84, of Bethel, died July 22, at the Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris.

She was born in Bethel, May 15, 1923, the daughter of Richard and Edith (Vail) Blake.

She attended Gould Academy and graduated from Telstar High School in 1971.

She worked as a bus driver for Oxford Hills High School, Telstar High School and for the State of Maine, Albany Township, as well as being owner of Brown’s Mobile on Route 2, in Bethel.

She loved the Boston Red Sox as well as crocheting, knitting, beano and dancing.

She married Merton Brown, July 4, 1948. He died, Feb. 10, 1975.

She is survived by four sons, Reggie Brown of Bethel, Bruce Brown of West Bethel, Merton Jr. of Kennebunk, and Levi of Bethel; one daughter, Rhonda Mitchell of West Bethel; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Sonny Blake of Bethel; one sister, Beverly Warner of Bethel; two and a half brothers, David Jarvis of Dixfield, and John Blake of Oxford; two half sisters, Phyllis Cote of Florida, and Patty Wing of Vermont; and several nieces and nephews.
