Volunteers needed to help beautify Auburn


AUBURN — The Auburn Police Department has announced Auburn’s 2010 Community Cleanup Day, which will be held from 7:45 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 15.

For the fourth year in a row, Auburn residents, police department volunteers, families, students and other volunteers will “team up to clean up” the city. The event is a collaborative effort of the Auburn Police Department, Auburn School Department, Auburn Public Works and Auburn Parks and Recreation, in partnership with several community volunteers.

Everyone is welcome and volunteers are needed. Cleanup teams armed with gloves and trash bags will canvass the community as a part of the city-wide effort.

Participants will meet at 7:45 a.m. at the Hasty Armory at Pettengill Park. Teams will receive their assignments and supplies and head out from there. Volunteers should bring work gloves if available.

The goal of the event is to clean up as much trash as possible. The rain date is Sunday, May 16.
