Walter C. Evrard Sr.


LEWISTON – Walter C. Evrard Sr., 81, of 31 Cote Street, Lewiston, died Thursday, Jan. 25, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s, at the d’Youville Pavilion, where he had been a resident for the last two-and-a-half years.

Born in Randolph on April 4, 1925, he was the son of Walter B. and Annie Hickey Evrard.

He was educated in Gardiner schools and moved to the local area 62 years ago. For some 37 years he owned and operated Twin City Roofing & Siding, and for nine years belonged to the Sheet Metal Workers International Association and Local No. 545, retiring at the age of 66.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter all of his life, and loved watching his favorite teams, the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots.

A member of Holy Cross Parish, he is survived by his wife, the former Theresa J. Turcotte of Lewiston; four sons, Walter Evrard Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Auburn, Tim Evrard and wife, Debra, of Oxford, George Camire and wife, Janice, of Homosassa, Fla., and Mike Camire and wife, Sally, of Prattville, Ala.; five daughters, Diane Morrissette and husband, Joseph, of Lewiston, Connie Tucci and husband, Anthony, of Wales, Tracey Brousseau and husband, Rollie Jr., of Sabattus, Mae Matzler and husband, Joseph, of Illinois, and Bette Mayer and husband, Tim, of Brunswick; a brother, Charles Fred Evrard and longtime companion, Margie Luby, of Meriden, Conn.; a sister, Gloria Hall and husband, Everett, of Hartford, Conn., 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Cora M. Whipple, who passed away on Dec. 5, 2003.
