1939 – 2015
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Walter Herbert Kittredge, 75, of Fort Myers, Fla., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
He was born to the late Herbert and Ruth Kittredge on Sept. 19, 1939, in Bethel. Walter graduated with the Class of 1957 from Gould Academy, also in Bethel. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired to Fort Myers, Fla., in 1992 after a 28-year career with AT&T. Walter then launched his second career as a licensed coastal waters captain and sailing instructor. He remained active in the Gulf Harbour Yacht Club and Marina while also serving on the Board of Directors for the Gulf Harbour community he lived in and loved, Tamarind Cay.
Walter leaves his son, Kim Kittredge and his wife, Erin, and their children, Michael and Sam, of Palmer, Alaska; his daughter, Karen and her husband, Chuck, and their children, Anna and Cameron, of Charlton, Mass.; his two sisters, Kathy Bean and her husband, Harlan, of South Paris, and Pat Brown and her husband, Blair, of Naples, Fla.; his nephews and nieces, Kevin, Kurt, Kris, Kristen and Karole-Ann; his best friend, Sandra Coyle; many dear friends; and his beloved cat, Dora.
He was predeceased by his brother, Laurier.
