Walter M. Drown Jr.

SCARBOROUGH – Walter M. Drown Jr., 56, of Hollis Center, died Friday, April 23, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
He was the husband of Gale (Gaudin) Drown. He was born on Aug. 24, 1953, in Worcester, Mass., a son of Winnifred P. (Wing) Drown of Portland and the late Walter M. Drown Sr., who died in 1986. He grew up in Falmouth and graduated from Falmouth High School as a member of the graduating class of 1973. As a youngster, Walter was a Boy Scout and was also the president of the junior league Falmouth Rod and Gun Club.
He started working for Maine Rubber International at age 19 as a welder/fabricator until his motorcycle accident in 2001.
He and his wife, Gale, were married on Dec. 3, 1977, and shortly thereafter moved to Hollis to raise their family. He enjoyed both of his Harley motorcycles, NASCAR racing, camping and working with wood. Walter, a master of all trades, loved to tinker with almost everything.
He greatly enjoyed his family and spending time with them. He shared his home with numerous pets over the years, expressing a special place in his heart for cats. One of his old friends, “Tigger,” returned to take him home.
Besides his wife of 32 years; and his mother; he is survived by his two sons, William “Bill” Pedneault and his wife, Jen, of Cornish and Michael M. Drown and his wife, Amanda, of North Waterboro. He also leaves his grandson, Russell W.M. Drown; and granddaughter, Brittany Haynes; as well as his sister, Barbara Gray of Portland; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his feline companions, Annie and Cassie.
