1933 – 2016
SOUTH PARIS — Walter “Bubba” Enman, 83, of South Paris, went home to be with the lord on Friday, Dec. 2, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, surrounded by his loving family.
The son of Leon and Elsie (Vail) Enman of Newry, Walter was born July 6, 1933. He attended schools in the Bethel area before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, where he served his country in the Philippines.
Following his time in the service, he returned to Dedham, Mass., where he met the love of his life, Marilyn Gullage. They were married Dec. 9, 1956. Together they had five children.
Walter enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. He was known for being quiet, the jokester, and telling tall tales. Many would remember Walter as an honest salesman for the Ripley and Fletcher Co. in South Paris.
In his later years, his time was spent enjoying his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Walter is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn; his three daughters, Sharon Kimball and husband, Bruce, of South Paris, Judith Abbott and husband, David, of South Paris, and Lori Enman Royer of Bethel; as well as eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Walter was predeceased by his parents; and his sisters, June, Naomi and Polly; and his twin newborn sons.
The family would like to thank the Maine Veterans’ Home for its compassion and loving care for our beloved Walter. We would also like to offer a heartfelt thank-you to a friend and caregiver, Terry, and to a wonderful friend, Darlene. Condolences can be expressed to the family by visiting www.chandlerfunerals.com.
