AUBURN — The committee for the Auburn Art Wall project has opted to reopen the submission process with the broadened theme of “the natural world.”
Digital submissions from artists with year-round or seasonal Maine address must be received no later than Monday, May 16.
The 700-foot-plus Auburn Art Wall is located along South Main Street, between Laurel and Newbury streets.
The wall, with newly improved landscaping and a winding sidewalk that strategically positions foot traffic for varying approaches to the artwork, will showcase sizable reproductions of original works.
Selected artwork will be reproduced on panels attached to the masonry wall. All told, there will be 14 painted aluminum framed sections, each displaying the work of a single artist. Nine 4- by 24-foot panels will showcase groupings of four to seven images, while five 4- by 4-foot panels will each display one image.
Artists may submit up to three sets of images for the larger panels and up to five for the smaller ones. There is no submission fee. Artwork should be sent to: L/A Arts, 221 Lisbon St., Lewiston, Maine 04240, Attention: Auburn Art Wall; or sent via email to [email protected] (subject line: Auburn Art Wall).
Artists will be notified of the committee’s decision no later than June 1. Selected artwork will be reproduced as vinyl images with a clear vinyl overlay. For additional guidelines, call 782-7228 or email L/A Arts at [email protected]
