Wanted: paintings, other works for ‘Area Artists 2011’


LEWISTON —The Atrium Art Gallery at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College is seeking artwork for “Area Artists 2011,” a biennial open-juried exhibition open to visual artists who live or work in Androscoggin, Franklin or Oxford counties.

Artists may submit up to two works; there is no entry fee. Delivery dates are Friday, Dec. 3, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.; and Saturday, Dec. 4, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., at the college, 51 Westminster St.

The biennial exhibition, which began in 1994, will feature paintings, drawings, prints, photography; works in clay, fiber, wood and metal; and other three-dimensional media.

Jurors for the exhibition are Carolyn Eyler, director of exhibitions and programs for USM’s Portland and Gorham campuses; and Anthony Shostak, curator of education for the Bates College Museum of Art.
