Waterford Library sets annual meeting

WATERFORD – The Waterford Library annual meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, with Nancy Barba, of Barba+Wheelock Architecture, Preservation + Design in Portland, as speaker.

The agenda will include brief reports by the president of the board of trustees and the librarian. Barba will discuss the library’s plans to renovate the second floor, with a focus on the library’s master plan. The title of her presentation is “Preserving the Waterford Library: Why We Should Care.”

Barba+Wheelock was responsible for the building conditions report in 2002, which was funded in part by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The library is a Colonial Revival style building designed by noted Portland architect John Calvin Stevens, who, with his son, John Howard Stevens, was involved in the rebuilding of the second story after a fire in 1937.

All Waterford residents are invited to attend.
