Weaving of legacy, heritage

POLAND – Castlebay has been musically weaving the timeless traditions of Maine’s nautical legacy and its British Isles heritage since 1987. Julia Lane plays the Celtic harp, and Fred Gosbee plays 12-string guitar, fiddle, flute, and whistles – mixed in with expressive vocals.

The two, who blend history, legend and experience into their personable performance style, will perform Monday, July 30, at All Souls Chapel, as part of the Poland Spring Preservation Society’s Summer Concert Series.

Castlebay regularly tours the East Coast of the United State, performing at art centers and schools and festivals and in concert series. They also maintain close ties with colleagues in Scotland, Ireland,Wales, and England, where they have been touring annually since 1993.

Showtime is 7 p.m. Admission is $5, with proceeds going to support the work of the Poland Spring Preservation Society.
