West Paris board sets fees for use of meeting room

WEST PARIS – After discussing past policy regarding public use of the town office meeting room Thursday, selectmen decided to update it, adding fees and regulations to distinguish between local nonprofits using the room and out-of-town or for-profit groups.

Nonprofits from West Paris will put up a $5 security deposit and must return the key the next business day. The $5 fee will be returned once it is determined the room has been left in the same condition it was when the group began occupancy.

Out-of-town and for-profit groups face a $25 per day fee, also with conditions for use.

Selectmen also authorized Town Manager John White to sign a pole attachment agreement with Central Maine Power Co. so flags can be displayed during town events and holidays. The agreement calls for break-away flag holders for safety.

Selectmen Dennis Henderson was named board chairman, replacing Bill Birney, who resigned last month due to work-related issues.
