BETHEL – State Sen. Carol Weston of Montville, Republican leader in the Maine Senate, will be the featured speaker at the annual Lincoln Day dinner on Saturday, Feb. 24. The event honors the first Republican U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, who was first elected in 1860 on a ticket that included Oxford County native Hannibal Hamlin for vice president.

Weston, a native of Aroostook County, is married to Peter Weston and is the mother of two. She served two terms in the State House of Representatives before her election to the State Senate in 2003.

She is expected to underscore the Republican message of limited government and lower taxes while providing some insights into issues facing the current legislative session.

Those attending will also hear from Maine College Republican Chairman Nate Walton of Lewiston, a Bates College student.

The dinner will be held at the Bethel Inn Conference Center beginning with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30. There will also be raffles and an auction. Tickets are $30 a person. Checks payable to the Oxford County Republican Committee should be sent to Becky Kendall, P.O. Box 472, Bethel, ME 04217 before Saturday, Feb. 10.

No tickets will be sold at the door and receipt of one’s check will confirm his or her reservations. Those wishing more information should call 824-3196 or contact beckyk@megalink.net. All Republicans are invited to bring friends.
