Willette’s band will get Heritage Hall into full swing

LEWISTON — The Mike Willette Swing Band will perform Saturday, June 5, at the Franco-American Heritage Center’s newly renovated Heritage Hall as part of the opening week celebration.

The hall on the ground level of the center has been transformed into a cabaret-style performance and social venue, featuring a commercial kitchen and full-service bar.

The Mike Willette Swing Band, lead by veteran trumpet player Scott Davis, is a brassy, high-energy, 13-piece big band that plays classic and contemporary big band sounds.

The band’s rhythm section will perform during dinner as a combo and the entire band will play for dancing after dinner.

Willette has sung and entertained with the band throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Canada. He sings music by Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and other artists.

The menu, provided by Heritage Hall’s catering service, will include spring salad with apples and beets, tenderloin a la Reine with mushroom and cream sauce, roasted potatoes, green beans Florentine and a minipastry.

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The cost for dinner and dance is $30 per person. For tickets, call 689-2000. The Franco center is at 46 Cedar St.; doors will open at 5:30 p.m. For more information, visit francoamericanheritage.org.
