William L. Eastman


1932 – 2014

PERU — William L. “Bill” Eastman, 82, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, at his residence in Peru with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Dixfield on Aug. 17, 1932, the son of William and Myrtle (Tyler) Eastman, and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford.

Bill served during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1954. He worked for more than 35 years until retirement from the North End Finishing Room at Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Rumford. He was a member of the Peru American Legion.

Bill was formerly married to Doris Roy of Rumford until her death in 1990, and he then remarried in Peru on July 20, 1991, to Marie A. Reitze of Peru, who survives. Other survivors include daughters, Darlene Eastman of Dixfield, Linda Putnam and husband, Ceeley, of Peru, Nicolette Montefusco of Rome, Italy, and Shannon Smith and husband, Travis, of Bethel; son, twins Larry Eastman and, wife, Karen, of Peru and Gary Eastman and wife, Patti, of Dixfield, Will Eastman and wife, Joanne, of Dixfield, Shane Reitze and wife, Melissa, of Palmyra, Jared Reitze and wife, Barbara, of Pittston, and Chip Eastman and wife, Jen, of Augusta; “adopted family,” Randy Varnum of Peru and his wife, Crystal, daughter, Elizabeth, mother-in-law, Shelley, and brother, Andy; 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
