Wilma R. Delano


RUMFORD – Wilma R. Delano, R.N., 83, died Thursday, July 12, at her residence on Route 108 in Rumford.

She was born in Maplewood, Nova Scotia, Canada, on Jan. 5, 1924, a daughter of Perley and Lola (Jordan) Ramey. She graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford and attended Rumford Nurses’ Training School. She worked as a registered nurse at Rumford Hospital until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the Rumford First Baptist Church.

She was married in Mexico on Aug. 7, 1949, to Theodore Delano, who survives of Rumford.

Other survivors include a brother, Bruce Ramey, and his wife, Alice, of Rumford Center; five sisters, Ginny Perkins of Rumford, Shirley Sweatt of Mexico, Joanne Kelcourse, and her husband, Tim, of Mexico, Phyllis Leadbetter, and her husband, George, of Bangor and Sister Sandra Ramey of Marlboro, Mass.

She was predeceased by a brother, Perley Ramey; and two sisters, Annie Ramey and Sadie Brown.
