WILTON — An investigation into a woods fire off Terrace Drive on Monday reveals the fire is suspicious and was caused by a human, Forest Ranger Jay Bernard said Tuesday.
The fire in East Wilton, which burned nearly an acre, started about 25 yards in back of a Terrace Drive home, he said.
Bernard plans to continue talking with homeowners in the area of Terrace Drive and Blue Spruce Road, both located above the Sweden House.
The fire was reported at noon Monday and was located behind the home of Glen Mullen at 87 Terrace Drive. Mullen’s son came home and saw the smoke coming from the wooded hill, Wilton Fire Chief Sonny Dunham said.
No one was around the property and the owners live in Arizona, Dunham added.
Along with Wilton Fire Department, mutual aid from Farmington Fire and Rescue, Jay Fire Department and East Dixfield Fire Department helped at the scene.
