New Gloucester – Winfield ‘Wink’ M. Rideout, 75, died at his home in New Gloucester on Jan. 4, with his loving family by his side.

Wink was born on Oct. 18, 1931, in Lewiston, the son of William W. and Lena E. Rideout.

Prior to his retirement in 1996, he spent his days as a machinist at Etonic in Auburn. Most recently, he worked for a long-time friend, Harold S. Jones. He enjoyed hiking, hunting and spending time outdoors. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Theresa J., and husband, Barry D. Schmieks Sr.; grandson, Barry D. Schmieks Jr., and his wife, Marjorie; granddaughter, Kristina Johnson, and husband, Jerimiah; and he always held a special place in his life for Linda Parker and the LaChance family.

He was predeceased by his parents.
