WLU to host one-stroke painting demonstration on Feb. 15

AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union of Androscoggin County will host artist Deb McIntosh at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15. McIntosh will demonstrate one-stroke painting.

McIntosh was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia in Oct. 2002. As she regained her health, she took a decorative art class at Lewiston High School called “One Stroke Painting” which was developed by Donna Dewberry.

McIntosh received her teaching certification which was the beginning of a new phase in life for her.

One-stroke painting is a technique that blends, shades and highlights all in one stroke.

This program will take place at the historic Horatio and Ella Foss house, 19 Elm St. Members are encouraged to bring guests. Admission to the clubhouse is free but donations are accepted. This month a charitable collection for the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, particularly dog or cat food, old towels and blankets, will be gathered.

Organized in 1892, the Woman’s Literary Union is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to further the intellectual, cultural and educational advancement of its members and the community, and preserve the nationally registered Horatio Foss Mansion.
