Wolf Pack nip Pirates


PORTLAND (AP) – Jarkko Immonen capped a three-goal scoring streak in the third period as the Hartford Wolf Pack rallied from behind to beat the Portland Pirates 5-4 Friday in the American Hockey League.

Colby Genoway scored twice in Portlands loss.

After Nigel Dawes scored for Hartford early in the first period, the Pirates (20-15-1-5) built a 2-1 lead on goals by Genoway and Tim Brent.

Genoways second of the evening made it 3-1 early in the second, but Hartford (23-17-3-0) tied it on goals by Dave Lampman and Lauri Korpikoski.

Dave Liffiton sent the Pack ahead at 9:55 of the third and Immonen netted the game-winner at 12:49.

Bjorn Melin cut Portlands deficit to one with 5:39 remaining.

Hartford goalie Al Montoya stopped 21 shots to earn the win, while Portland’s Mike Wall made 21 saves in the loss.
