LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women has announced programs for May.
You Are Not Alone (Y.A.N.A.), a support group, will be held at 1 p.m. each Monday. The group gives participants time to feel good about themselves. Something different happens every time.
“One on Ones” will also be offered at the center. Health and wellness check-ins are scheduled at 10 a.m. Mondays. There will be blood pressure and weight checks, and conversation about how to improve health. On Wednesday, May 26, at 10 a.m., a women’s reproductive health clinic will be staffed by Western Maine Community Action. Pam Belliveau will offer a monthly session called “Seeking Your Inner Spirit” on Tuesday, May 11. All One on Ones are free and private.
Special events in May include a “Remembering Ritual” to honor mothers at 10 a.m. Friday, May 7. The original intent of Mother’s Day was mothers protesting the loss of the sons to war. In that spirit, the event will be a time for those who have lost children or mothers to share their memories. Participants will also create a vessel in which to put new memories.
Other events are a container gardening class at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, offered by Lots to Gardens; and a money management class at 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, taught by the Community Credit Union. The focus will be on “How and Why to Save Your Money.”
All programs and the center are listed on a monthly calendar of programs which is available on the website at www.wisdomswomen.org. For more information or if interested in volunteering, contact the Executive Director Klara Tammany at 513-3922.
