Women’s health fair at Bridgton Hospital


BRIDGTON – Bridgton Hospital’s “Every Day in a Woman’s Life” Health Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13. Pamela Smith, development and community relations director, said, “The fair has expanded dramatically this year and we are very excited about the vendors that we will have with us.” All vendors provide free interactive displays.

The hospital will have numerous services highlighted. Dr. Bruce Lastra, Bridgton Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Dr. Suzanne Dater, Bridgton Internal Medicine, will provide free breast and skin exams.

Maureen Harpell, family nurse practitioner, Naples Family Practice, will be available to help select a new provider from the Bridgton Hospital Physician Group practices accepting new patients. The nursing staff will provide blood pressure checks and the laboratory will provide cholesterol screenings for women.

Karen Bogdan, registered occupational therapist, will provide paraffin wax treatments. Blue Moon Midwives and Women’s Health providers will answer questions. Cathy Heffernan, certified nurse midwife, will present a lecture at 10 a.m. on “Menopause – Now What?” Hospital dietitian Linda Russell, RD, will be provide information and advice about preventing diabetes.

Presenting sponsor is Hannaford Supermarkets, which will have two vendors in attendance, their pharmacy and a natural/organic food supplier, Spectrum Organic Products.

The Hannaford Pharmacy will be represented by David Diller, RPh, who previously owned Bridgton Pharmacy. He will review medications and answer questions.

Spectrum will have a tasting booth of oil products, including recipes, and their regional culinary manager, Kathy Rooney, will be presenting a lecture at 11 a.m. on using healthy oils in cooking.

Summit Spring Water of Harrison will provide bottled water. Numerous raffle prizes will be drawn.
