Work of two painters on display at CMMC gallery

LEWISTON — The Central Maine Medical Center Woman’s Hospital Association will feature the work of two area painters at its Rotating Art Gallery during March.

The work of Michelle Giard and Sheila Patrick will be displayed in the 60 High Street Main Lobby corridor at CMMC through March 27.

Giard holds bachelors and masters of fine arts degree and has worked as an art teacher. Her paintings, inspired by her love of nature and family, have been exhibited at the Academy for Fine Arts, while others are part of various private collections. She exhibits out of her home during the summer months and at Bittersweet Gallery in Harpswell. She uses both watercolors and oil paints.

Patrick started painting in her40s while living in Massachusetts, where she studied painting with Margaret Fernside and life drawing with King Coffin. She has also ventured into acrylics and watercolors, and enjoys searching for old frames that complement her artwork. A Newfoundland native, many of her paintings depict the region’s natural beauty.

Some of the works on display may be purchased through the Woman’s Hospital Association Gift Shop, located adjacent to the main lobby. A percentage of sale proceeds benefit CMMC.
