Worthley Pond group elects year’s officers


PERU – The Worthley Pond Association held its 16th annual meeting recently at Rockemeka Grange in Peru Center. President Dave Clement called the meeting to order.

Highlights of the business meeting were the election of the 2007-2008 officers. Elected were: president, Dave Clement; vice president, Sheila Delamater; secretary, Kathy Barrett; treasurer, Sherry Clement; and director, Steve Gallant. The other two directors are Ron Ashworth and Orville Lind.

Discussion centered around the shoreland zoning ordinances, state and local; the East Shore Road; the Lake Smart program; the level and quality of Worthley Pond; the courtesy boat inspection program; the spring; and the first WPA golf outing.

The association voted to make donations to the Rockemeka Grange Fund, Congress of Lakes Associations and the Maine Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program.

Dennis Gallant, head of the WPA golf outing, announced that it will be held at Oakdale Country Club on Saturday, Aug. 11, and is open to members and nonmembers. It will feature a free lunch and prizes.

Sheila Delamater is chairing the Christmas in July celebration that will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29.
