Wyona A. Byron


PORTLAND -Wyona Anne Byron, 51, of Bath, died early Monday, April 24, at Maine Medical Center from pneumonia complications.

She was born Nov. 23, 1954, in Rumford, the daughter of Earl Byron and Annie Sherburne. She attended schools in Rumford and Bath, eventually attaining her diploma at Mt. Ararat School in Topsham.

She spent most of her adult life in the Mid-Coast region, working as a CNA, store clerk and elder housekeeper/companion. Accompanied by her beloved pet dog, Missy, she enjoyed long rides along the coast, often going to Popham State Park and Reid State Park. She also loved ocean fishing.

She is survived by two sons, Eric (Chris) Byron of Augusta, Ga. and Jimmy Byron of Bath; four brothers, Charles Sastamoine and his wife, Caralie, of Dixfield, Earl (Buddy) Byron and his wife, Marcia, of Rumford, Everett Byron of Waterville and Ambrose Sastamoine of Norridgewock; one sister, Clemma Nichols and her husband, James, of Rumford; one uncle, Jesse Hodsdon and his wife, Rita, of Tallahassee, Fla.; a special aunt, Ramona Sweatt and her husband, Dan, of Rumford; three grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; one brother, Edward Sastamoine; and one special uncle, Ambrose Clements.
