‘Y’ launches tennis program

AUBURN – Auburn-Lewiston YMCA has opened registration to its newest program, QuickStart Tennis.

QuickStart Tennis is an exciting new play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. QuickStart Tennis is the fast, fun way to get kids into tennis and keep them playing.

Introduced to this style of play from the start, kids will gain confidence by seeing their own immediate progress, making them more enthusiastic about continuing to play and improve. QuickStart Tennis enables kids to have more enjoyable experiences early on in the learning process and having fun is always a factor in keeping kids involved. QuickStart Tennis is a program designed by the USTA.

QuickStart Tennis is being offered in two sessions: for 5- and 6-year-olds on Saturdays from 11:15 a.m to 12:15 p.m. and for 7- and 8-year-olds from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. for eight weeks. The program will run from March 6 to April 24. Cost is $35 for members or $60 for nonmembers, with youth ‘Y’ memberships starting at $7.75 a month.
