FARMINGTON — A juvenile driver faces charges after crashing his car Monday night on Lucy Knowles Road.
The driver was going approximately 75 mph in a 50-mph zone at about 8:30 p.m. when he attempted to pass another vehicle and hit a bump, Shane Cote, deputy chief for the Farmington Police Department, said. He fishtailed, went off the road and flipped his 1994 Ford Escort. The car came to rest on its wheels up against trees.
The 16-year-old driver received minor injuries, including a head laceration and leg injury, Cote said. He was transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar Ambulance, treated and released, he said.
He was given a summons on charges of driving to endanger and driving an unregistered vehicle, and traffic tickets for no proof of insurance and for driving an uninspected vehicle. Sgt. Michael Adcock covered the accident.
The car was towed from the scene by Farmington Towing.
