MILBRIDGE —Yvonne D. (Fortier) Roy, 80, of Rumford, and Sun City Center, Fla., went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 10, in the comfort of her daughter, Lynn’s, home, after a courageous battle with metastatic colon cancer.
She was born in Mexico, Maine on Aug. 24, 1929 to Yvonne (Lemay) Fortier and Leonce H. Fortier. She attended school in Mexico, and then worked at Diamond Match Co. in Dixfield. She met and married the love of her life, the late Roger H. (Trigger) Roy in 1949. Yvonne attended Parish of the Holy Savior in Rumford, Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center, and St. Michael’s in Cherryfield. Living on a golf course in Florida, she and Roger enjoyed playing golf almost daily. She played on a women’s league and won many tournaments. She was a wonderful cook, superb knitter, and immaculate housewife. She was a skier, self-taught pianist, loved to play cards, and do puzzles.
Yvonne is survived by her sons, Donald J. Roy and wife, Susan, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Roger H. Roy, Jr. and wife, Deborah, of Lewiston; daughters Diana M. Moore and husband, Ralph, of Indianapolis, IN, and Lynn M. Fickett and husband, E. Christopher of Milbridge, ME; ten grandchildren, Temeni and Daniel Roy, Kristina, Michelle and Benjamin Moore, Amanda and Colby Fickett; step-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Michael and Jeremy Thurlow; two sisters, Louise Sinclair and Anne Duguay, both of Mexico, ME; sisters-in-law Rita Perry, and husband, Bob, and Lorraine Briere, both of Rumford; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Yvonne is predeceased by her sister, Rita Buotte.
