Barry Wood, solo artist from Jay, will be performing old pop classics, soft rock from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, and traditional country music at the Araxine Wilkins Sawyer Memorial, 71 Sawyer Road, Greene, at 2 and 7 p.m., Friday, June 5. The admission is free. Wood has been entertaining for over 60 years and has won more than 70 vocalist, entertainer, and instrumental awards with the Down East Country Music Association, the Maine Country Music Association, and the North American Country Music Association International in Tennessee. In 2006, Wood received a recognition award at the State House in Augusta. He currently has six albums out which have won awards from MCMA, DECMA, and NACMAI.
