AUBURN — Director Celeste Philippon has announced the cast and crew for the upcoming L-A Community Little Theater production of “The Importance of Being Earnest” (A Trivial Comedy for Serious People). Written by Oscar Wilde and first performed in 1895 at the St. James’s Theatre in London, this farcical comedy is widely considered his most enduringly popular play. Working within the social conventions of late Victorian England, the play’s major themes are the triviality with which it treats institutions as serious as marriage, and the resulting satire of Victorian ways.

Cast members seated left to right are Jennifer Fox (Gwendolen Fairfax); Mark Hazard (Rev. Chasuble); Jane Mitchell (Miss Prism); Genevieve Hering (Cecily Cardew). Standing are Bernie Button (Jack Worthing); Paul Menezes (Merriman); and David Moison (Algernon Moncrieff). Missing are Andrea Quaid (Lady Bracknell) and Brendan Cassidy (Lane).
