VIENNA — After wowing last year’s crowd with his singing voice and collection of top notch jazz talent, Kyle Knuppel will be back again this year to perform  a benefit concert for the Vienna Union Hall.

Called “American Songbook 2 – from Originals, to bluegrass, to jazz,” the show is set for 7 p.m., Saturday, June 13, at the hall. Tickets are $8 prepaid in advance and $10 at the door. For tickets call Libby at 293 2362 or Dodi Thompson at 293- 2670 or email  eacharville@gmail.com

Knuppel used to make his living singing and song writing in NYC. While studying in a masters class at Julliard, he worked as an EMT and ended up changing careers from music to medicine. A residency position at the Maine Dartmouth Family Practice Residency in Augusta/Waterville brought him to central Maine.

Knuppel brought up his friend Matt Davis, from the Philadelphia area, added two well known jazz musicians in Maine on drums and bass and then donated their time to do a benefit concert for the Union Hall.

In addition to performing, Davis is an active composer, teacher and arranger. For 15 years he has taught music on all levels from elementary to graduate levels. He is the senior lecturer of jazz guitar performance at the University of Arts in Philadelphia, serves as a N.Y. Pops teachingartist in NYC and is founder of “Aerial Photography,” an original jazz ensemble inspired by the great historical and cultural diversity of the American experience. Davis  was hailed as “incredible” by the Philadelphia Daily News and “inspired” by Downbeat magazine. He has received numerous awards and honors and has shared the stage with many notable musicians.
