On September 11, 2002, like many other schools across America, Eastgate Christian Academy grades K-12 gathered in the sanctuary for a short assembly to remember what happened one year ago on that day. The national anthem was played and the Pledge was recited by the entire student body. Students in Mrs. Cox’s history class and Mr. Hansen’s government class were assigned to write an essay or poem expressing their feelings.
The top three in each category were chosen to read theirs during the assembly. Also, student volunteers were recognized for their service in the community. The assembly was ended with the singing of “”God Bless America.”
