The air is turning crisp and cool,

And I know its time to go back to school.

The leaves are turning a different shade,

As the days of summer quickly fade.

The trees are full of apples red and sweet.

Just think of all those delicious treats.

The wonderful smell of apple pie as it bakes,

And the tart taste of the applesauce my mother makes.

The farmer is harvesting his crops,

In hopes that he will beat the first frost.

In the fields you see fresh cut hay,

Whose sweet scent is smelled far away.

The days are growing shorter,

And the nights are getting colder.

The days of autumn have begun,

And winter is about to come.
