Recently we’ve all read and heard about how Mayor Raymond made Lewiston national news with his open letter to the Somalis, requesting they curtail their migration here. Granted, his judgment could have been a little more tactful in his approach to this matter, and it might have saved this city countless rifts between our local citizens.

It would have also curtailed the coming event from the World Church of the Creator and saved this city and taxpayers the huge expense of dealing with this matter.

To make matters worse, we, the citizens of Lewiston, voted for Mr. Raymond in a recent election hoping that as an elected official he would guide us and lead us accordingly.

I guess from his recent actions that our votes were a huge mistake and an embarrassment to us.

Now that the situation has gotten national attention and we now have to face a rally by white supremacists here because of his infamous letter, causing our city undue notoriety, where is Mr. Raymond in all of this?

Gone on vacation to Florida because he had made plans and is leaving for warmer weather.

He created this mess. We voted for him to lead us. I can tell he is leading us to not vote for his re-election when that time comes.

If he truly, and I mean truly, were half a man he would be the first person in line supporting our city and joining forces to help support the Many and One Coalition for equal justice for all here.

I hope the mayor has a wonderful time in Florida while we citizens of Lewiston try to fix his mess.
