Recently at the governor’s inaugural address he stressed cutting down on spending for all to reduce our deficit. It brought to mind the spending in my hometown.

Last year we tried to cut expenditures but we had to return and vote three times because our officials and budget committee did not get the money they wanted. They even threatened to sue.

After reading your newspaper I found these spenders are again putting item on the agenda to increase funds for our schools by a large amount — a new fire truck for over $200,000, plus recreation at $43,000 this summer.

When I grew up in this town we had our baseball games every evening and it cost taxpayers nothing.

I have one consolation at nearly 85 years old, I won’t have to put up with this extravaganza much longer.

This town has the best two fire stations, we doubled the size of our library, we have the best waste recycling facility in the state. So we are not misers.
