As the situation unfolds in Iraq I am reminded of 32 years ago when, as a young marine returning home from a foreign land, being confronted by so-called “peace demonstrators.”

The abuse and disrespect shown by these demonstrators is and always will be unforgivable. It would seem that they forget who gave them the freedom of speech and the right to voice their opinions.

By demonstrating as they have, they have demonstrated their ignorance of the real threat to the United States and the rest of the world. If people must demonstrate, which they have the right to do, I ask them to do it in a manner that reflects the behavior of an adult and not of a child having a tantrum.

Why not purchase a plane ticket and go to Iraq or any other country that has threatened or attacked our loved ones and their homes and try demonstrating in those countries?

I guess that Sept. 11 was not a sufficient wake-up call for some to understand how far men like Saddam Hussein will go to intimidate and dominate those who are beneath their contempt. It is time that Saddam and men like him understand the consequences of their actions.

Remember even the most dedicated warrior understands the cost of such a hazardous undertaking as war, and remember the price of freedom is never won without sacrifice.

I will not suffer the likes of the Saddams and Osama bin Ladens of this world.
