1924 – 2003

TOGUS – Rene Beaudoin, 79, of Route 135, Belgrade, died April 4, at the Veterans Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Augusta, on Feb. 26, 1924, the son of Ernest Beaudoin and Emilie Anna (Breton) Beaudoin. Mr. Beaudoin served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed by Fleet Bank for 11 years. He was previously employed by St. Augustine Catholic Church for 13 years and by Arlene’s Bakery for 10 years.

Mr. Beaudoin was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church of Augusta, a member of Cushnoc Senior Citizens and the American Association of Retired Persons. His wife, Bertha (Dube) Beaudoin, died in 1994.

Surviving are four sons, Robert Beaudoin of Eastbrook, Paul Beaudoin of Hanford, CA, David Beaudoin of Weeks Mills and Michael Beaudoin of Augusta; seven daughters, Claire Shepherd of Belgrade, Sister Diane Beaudoin of the Sisters of Charity in St. Hyacinthe, Canada, Claudette Merchant of Wilton, Anita Carvell of Ashville, NC, Jeanne Potelle of Milford, NH, Anne Allison of Jay and Maria Trow of Augusta; two sisters, Alma Morin of Lewiston and Lorette Morin of Augusta; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; two daughters, Ruth Beaudoin and Julie Dow; two sisters, Cecile Laroche and Therese Robitaille; as well as his beloved companion, Constance Dutil, who died this year.
