1928 – 2003

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. -Richard Bruce Hodgkins, 75, of Camp Road, Wilton, died peacefully Thursday, April 3 in Florida.

Born in Lewiston, Feb. 13, 1928, the son of Thomas and Helen Hodgkins, he graduated from Farmington High School and Bryant Stratton Business College in Boston.

He worked for Libby, McNeal and Libby detailing grocery stores in northern Maine. Ocean Spray then employed him as a district sales manager in seven mid-western states. He then formed a food brokerage company in Columbus, Ohio. In 1970 he moved home to Maine and was employed by Forster Mfg. Co. as sales manager/director of marketing. After leaving Forster, he started RBH & Associates and later worked in sales for Strong Wood Products. His last endeavor was in real estate with Sandy River Realty in Farmington.

His civic interests included membership in Wilton Lodge 156, a 50-year member of Kora Temple Shrine and a very active membership in the Wilton Lions Club.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing and all sports. Most of all, he loved his family and took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Casey; eight children, Ann Hodgkins Curley and her husband, Steve of Southport, Conn., Susan Hodgkins Cruickshank and her husband, Robert of New Canaan, Conn., Bruce Hodgkins and his wife, Tracy of Boulder, Colo., Stephen Hodgkins and his wife, Janine of New York, N.Y., Kathy Young Groder and her husband, William Groder of Wilton, Scott Young and his wife, Meg of Wilton, Kristi Young Couture and her husband, Darryl Couture of Jay and Kelly Young Sargent and her husband, Eric Sargent of Wolfeboro, N.H.; 15 grandchildren; and his former wife, Dorothy Hodgkins of Punta Gordo, Fla.

He was predeceased by his parents; and one sister, Jayne Carman Willis.
