LEWISTON – Former Deputy Police Chief Andy D’Eramo will take over as director of the Twin Cities 911 call center.

D’Eramo will replace Mike Morin as director of the Lewiston-Auburn 911 Emergency Communication System, which handles emergency calls and dispatches for police, fire and ambulance. Morin is scheduled to step down at the end of the month. D’Eramo plans to take over full time beginning in July.

“But we’re trying to work out some sort of transition now,” D’Eramo said. “We want to set something up so there is some overlap between us, for continuity’s sake.”

D’Eramo left his post as deputy police chief in Lewiston last July and has been teaching at Lakes Region Vocational Center in Bridgton since then. That job is scheduled to end in July.

D’Eramo began as a Lewiston patrol officer in 1979 and worked his way up the chain of command. He became deputy chief in 1998 and graduated soon after from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va.
