SABATTUS – Police have new leads in the March theft of a circa 1890s American Flyer train set, but they are asking for the public’s help in tracking it down.

“If anyone has purchased one recently from a private dealer, or person, please contact us,” said police officer Gilbert R. Turcotte. “It could possibly be a stolen train set they have purchased.”

The theft occurred in early March at the Sabattus Antique Mall, a business on Route 126. Police have new leads but cannot comment on them at this time, Turcotte said.

The train set has three pieces, one engine and two cars. Each piece is about the size of one 20-ounce bottle. The train set is valued at approximately $1,000. People with information can call Sabattus police at 375-6952.
