DANBURY, Conn. – Western Connecticut State scored four straight goals in the second half to erase a one-goal deficit, then held off a furious charge by Southern Maine to post a 12-11 women’s lacrosse win over the Huskies.

Erica King tallied the game-winner with nine minutes left in regulation as the Colonials (2-5) snapped a three-game losing skid. Emily Kirkland paced USM (1-6) with four goals, while Jess Callahan chipped in a hat trick and a pair of assists.

Colby 11, Tufts 10

WATERVILLE – Ally King scored with 9.3 seconds left in regulation to send Colby to an 11-10 win over Tufts.

King finished with three goals and an assist, while Emma Miller, Amanda Epstein and Cara Dionisi each chipped in a pair of goals.

Anna Schierberi turned back 10 shots for the White Mules (6-3).

Middlebury 15, Bowdoin 7

BRUNSWICK – Kristin Hanley scored a school record-tying 12 points to pace Middlebury to a 15-7 win over Bowdoin.

Hanley scored five goals while dishing out seven assists.

UNE 9, Endicott 6

BIDDEFORD – Molly Wood scored five goals to propel the University of New England to its first win of the season, 9-6 over Endicott. Wood scored three goals in the first 12 minutes.

Men’s lacrosse

Middlebury 13, Bowdoin 11

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Middlebury avenged its only men’s lacrosse loss of last season by turning back Bowdoin 13-11.

Mike Sarcini led the Panthers (8-1) with four goals. Connor Fitzgerald matched that total for the Polar Bears (4-6).
