LEWISTON – The Bates College Bobcats swept a softball doubleheader from the University of Maine at Farmington, 4-3 and 6-4.

In the opener, Bates rallied for three runs in the fourth inning en route to the 4-3 win. Dayna Krakower and Andrea Lichtman each hit a double. Every Bates starter, except one, had at least a hit.

Andrea Benvenuti had a single and a two-run triple and Richelle Dube picked up a couple of singles for UMF.

In Game 2, Krakower hit a double, while Flaherty smacked a triple for the Bobcats. Krissie Whiting had hits in both games to extend her hitting streak to five games.

Dube led the UMF effort with three singles.

St. Joseph’s 4, Colby 1

WATERVILLE – St. Joseph’s left-hander Greg Kimball pitched a complete game to power the Monks to a 4-1 victory Monday over Colby.

Kimball struck out five and walked none. Andy Exley had a pair of hits and scored the first run of the game in the first inning for St. Joseph’s (10-12). Ben Muniz chipped in with a double.

Colby (5-9-1) wasted a good outing by junior pitcher Phil Geiger, who went 8 1/3 innings and allowed one earned run while striking out two.

and walking one. Jared Cushman singled and had the lone Colby run. Rodney Ames and Brandon Royce each doubled for Colby.
